I have amazing news!Keven Moulton, the current president of People First of Rapid City, won the Source America Tom Miller Award for Advocacy. He will receive the award on April 27, 2016, in National Harbor, Maryland (MD) (Washington, DC Metro Area), during the National Training and Achievement Conference. Congratulations, Keven!
We also have our 2016 grant winners, to be announced at a later date. The Grant Award Ceremony were held at the Suzie Cappa Art Center (722 Saint Joseph Street) on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Congratulations to our grant winners!
People First Presents Grants

2014-2015 Grant Winners - Suncatchers, Autism Society, Beth Parker, Sean Bach, Devan Dallmann
People First Rapid City honored its first recipients of People First mini-grants at an open house January 28 at the Suzie Cappa Center. The purpose of this mini-grant is to provide additional opportunities to individuals with disabilities to live to their full potential and access additional resources. The grants are focused in the areas of advocacy, medical needs, improved independence, education, employment, personal development, or a community project for people with disabilities.
Grantees are as follows:
Devan Dallman for assistive technology
SunCatcher Therapeutic Riding Academy for riderships
Autism Society of the Black Hills for exploring sports and nature summer program
Sean Bach for assistive technology
Margaret Parker for medical needs
People First is a group of individuals with disabilities who learn to advocate for themselves and others with disabilities. The local chapter of People First meets monthly at Black Hills Works.
